Session Description
Participants in this interactive and participatory session will contribute to initial design features of an Environmental Governance Platform (EGP), a three year phased project to design, develop, and pilot a flexible system for any country to efficiently and effectively manage and integrate impact assessment/risk based screening, permitting, compliance and enforcement, while protecting a country's own data and policies. The EGP’s Phase I, design and feasibility assessment, was proposed and being implemented by the IAIA Governance and Implementation Systems Section with support from the IAIA Board, An Advisory Council has been invited to help guide the project and ensure its relevance and inclusivity.
Phase I design builds on work already done by countries and institutions using advances in and country innovations using GIS, Digital Technology and Artificial intelligence. Volunteers are solicited from within the IAIA professional community and other professional groups. Options for a long term structure and funding will be identified during Phase I to ensure its future success, a cost savings to countries achieved through collaboration rather then going it alone. It will be non-proprietary, independent and operated with scientific integrity, adoptable in whole or in part with a modular approach that could easily be tailored to a country’s own procedures and institutions and policies with instructional manuals and training.
