Session Description
The practice of cumulative impact assessment has been evolving worldwide, either as a regulatory requirement or to comply with policies of financial institutions. However, harnessing knowledge uptake by practitioners, as well as organizational and social learning to foster continuous improvement and uphold better consideration of cumulative impacts in decision-making processes may be difficult. Especially in the context of incipient practice, valuable learning experiences can be shared and help to support a positive agenda for advancing the addressing of cumulative impacts in decision-making. Papers are invited from both professional practice and research backgrounds on the application of cumulative impact assessment in jurisdictions where practice is emerging. Studying and documenting applications at the project level, groups of projects, regional level, as well as associated with or as part of strategic environmental assessments, this section will contribute to building lessons learned for advancing cumulative impact assessment based on previous experiences and case studies.
Session Summary
Papers from both researchers and practitioners are invited on the application of cumulative impact assessment in jurisdictions where the practice is emerging. We aim to foster knowledge exchange, highlight lessons from real-world experiences and case studies to advance cumulative impact assessment across diverse contexts.
