Session Description
This interactive session will examine current practice and emerging evidence on disability-inclusive impact assessment through the lens of climate action in the Pacific. As governments and development partners strengthen climate adaptation and resilience efforts, there is a growing need for impact assessments that meaningfully incorporate disability inclusion to ensure interventions are equitable, effective and responsive to diverse lived experiences.
Combining programmatic experiences form Pacific region as well as abstracts submitted, the session will explore practical approaches to embedding disability inclusion throughout the impact assessment process. The session will highlight learning from GDF support programs in 4 countries in the Pacific, as well as reflections from regional leaders such as the Pacific Disability Forum, the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat, and the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Program.
Participants will hear concise case studies demonstrating how disability-inclusive approaches are being integrated into programme design, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, evaluation and learning. These examples will be complemented by insights from regional and international initiatives that are advancing good practice in disability-inclusive impact assessment, including approaches that strengthen participation, improve evidence generation, support accountability and inform policy and investment decisions.
Interactive activities will encourage knowledge exchange. The session will conclude with a collaborative discussion to identify priorities for strengthening disability-inclusive impact assessment across the Pacific and beyond.

The objectives are to learn from and discuss experiences of disability inclusive climate action in the Pacific, exchange knowledge and reflect on good practice in disability inclusive impact assessments.
Additional Information
GDF would propose to co-chair the session with regional partners, including the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Program, the Pacific Disability Forum and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat as well as include program partners from the 4 countries.
