Session Description
Usual IA approaches separate First Nations and/or cultural impact assessment from technical assessments. Integrating First Nations and technical knowledge through co-constructed frameworks and processes can facilitate inclusive, coherent, and comprehensive impact assessment and impact management, focussing efforts on mutually affirmed, sustainable outcomes.
This session will include case studies where First Nations and technical knowledge have been combined in impact assessment and research findings to guide leading practice in this area. Paper presentations will provide an overview of frameworks, principles, and tools used in integration along with lessons learned, challenges and opportunities relating to integration, and how these can be overcome or enhanced.
The proposed format is 4 x 15minute paper presentations followed by a 20-minute question and answer session.

Additional Information
We welcome abstracts/papers from First Nations and Technical academics, IA practitioners, and stakeholder groups who have case studies or research on examples of integration with lessons learned, frameworks for integration, or discussion about challenges and opportunities relating to integration.
